ASRC Energy Services Response Operations and Foss Maritime Announce Joint Venture
Subsidiary of Alaska’s largest native corporation joins with one of America’s largest coastal tug and barge companies to meet growing demand for marine services in the Arctic
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, December 3, 2013 – ASRC Energy Services Response Operations, LLC, a leading offshore spill response operator in Alaska, and Foss Maritime Company, one of the nation’s largest coastal tug and barge operators, have formed a joint venture to together pursue marine services opportunities throughout Alaska.
The joint venture, called AES-Foss Marine, LLC, will be headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. The venture will build upon the strengths of each company to provide marine services throughout the state.

ASRC Energy Services Response Operations, LLC (ARO) provides a variety of offshore oil spill response equipment supported by highly trained response personnel. ARO is an indirect subsidiary of Alaska’s largest native corporation, Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC).

Seattle-based Foss Maritime brings more than a century of marine transportation experience in Alaskan waters to the venture.
One of the attractions for both partners is the prospect of a program to train Iñupiat people for jobs in a growing north coast maritime industry. Foss has been part of similar partnerships with other native groups.
