Even holding her bow into those kind of winds, the sail area of Connie is huge! The tow wire must be humming to the point of earplugs for the tug crew. The vibration must be scary. How big is the tow wire and how long in these conditions?

They have an additional three tugs on the tow: 1 tail boat, 2 side boats, plus the Capt. Latham and Corbin towing.

Still too early to give an accurate date, but I would guess the very end of December or first week in January

Would like to learn more(and get pictures) on this incredible journey of former USS Constellation along the Magellan Strait.
    Best,

Please check out the Gallery on our Blog (pictures of tow are down at the very bottom).

Why has she reversed course and headed back to the ocean out of the straits ?

    • Mary Beedle

They had 88 hours of detention due to high winds at Tortuoso Sts. They are presently transiting to Punta Arenas.
