    Can former shipmates go on the Connie when it comes into Brownsville? Served 1972 – 1973

      I appreciate your service Mr. McReynolds as an ex-aircraft director in V-1, I saw how hard your V-2 team worked in keeping the cats and arresting gear in great condition. Then in an unprecedented Main space fuel oil leak fire, the entire ship’s crew including a training squadron fought and helped extinguish the fire without loss of life. Similar to any human life, the Connie had it’s close calls and thanks to all who served and protected her, she kept on living.

    I, like most of the visitors here, served on Aircraft Carriers. Once a carrier sailor, always a carrier sailor, all the other are, well, just sailors. (Exception might be the submarine sailors, maybe.)
    Mine was the USS Saratoga, but to follow this great ship from the start has been an almost daily visit for me. Soon, they will be pretty darn close to each other, in the same Brownsville area, and if they could talk, what wonderful stories we would hear from Connie, Sara, and Forrestal. I had the privilege of serving aboard Sara for 3 years, and walked the decks and passageways of Forrestal for a couple days. I watched Sara be decommissioned, and was fortunate to be able to be in the audience to watch The USS Truman, and the USS Ronald Reagan be commissioned.
    I’d love to be there to watch the Corbin Foss lead Connie in, just like Signet Warrior brought in Sara.

    I was on board Connie from ’63 to ’66. I have many great memories from my time aboard. I really enjoyed sitting on the catwalk under the angle deck, watching the water break around the bow. I hope to see her one last time as she finishes her final voyage.

    I been tracking you on vessel finder.com for the air carrier uss constellation coming to Brownsville Texas .but it shows your still in Dominic republic what’s the arrival date need to take pictures thanks safe trip
