The Project:
Young Brothers is Hawaii’s foremost inter-island freight handling and transportation company, wholly owned by Foss Maritime. Operating a fleet of tugs and barges throughout their seven ports in Hawaii, they move nearly 287,000 TEUs of cargo every year. Young Brothers works closely with the state of Hawaii Transportation Department and the Hawaii Harbor Users Group to develop key ports, revitalize and modernize harbor facilities, and keep the islands of Hawaii connected.

Highlights:
- Young Brothers provides twelve regularly scheduled round trip weekly port calls from its Honolulu hub on O’ahu, and six to and from several neighbor island ports
- The Honolulu Terminal has a TEU throughput of approximately 2,500/week
- Each of the company’s ports is capable of handling a variety of cargo, including: Automobiles & other roll-on/roll-off (Ro/Ro), containers, flatracks, & platforms, and less-than-container loads (LCL)
- Young Brothers operates six general cargo barges and one dedicated Ro/Ro
- Major port development projects in the past include the new Honolulu Harbor Pier 39 & 40, home to Young Brothers’ hub, and the development of the Port of Nawiliwili
- Young Brothers partners with Hawaii Harbor Users Group, a coalition of major waterfront users including all major shipping companies that serve Hawaii
