We are in Brownsville TX from Minnesota & would like to see the ship. Where would the best place to see it & what time. It appears to be on 1/14? we were at S Padre Island today & could go back there. Thank you!
The USS Constellation will be going to International Shipbreakers and is presently offshore; they will be at the pilot station 07:00 01/16/15. It takes 4 to 6 hours to transit channel.
Anxious to learn the exact time the USS Constellation arrives at the mouth of the Brownsville ship channel.
I can only advise that she will be at the Pilot Station at 07:00 1/15/15 at this time.
To the crew of the corbin foss and to Mary Beedle thank you for this excellent blog on the final chapter of the uss constellation.Being a carrier sailor this is like a chapter of our youth coming to a close thank you for your respect to a great ship. Uss America sailor.
I really appreciate your updates and hopefully be able to see her as she passes by.
What time will it be in Brownsville, TX? Thank you!
Pilot Station 07:00 1/15/15
Thank you, Mary! Can’t wait!
I just received word from the Brownsville Herald that the Connie is going to arrive offshore on Wednesday but due to high winds in the channel she won’t enter the channel until first light FRIDAY morning.
We received message that they will continue to de-ballast offshore and will now arrive pilot station 07:00 on 1/16/15
I served on 4 different carriers and everytime I see one headed to the scrap yard I get a little emotional…but she’s going home for good…..
