Ms Mary. As a Navy Vet, I am following the voyage of Connie very closely. I was never stationed onboard the Connie, I am a Sara sailor, but following anyway. Mary, I thank you so very, very much for your hard work keeping us informed as to what is happening. I know other companies are not as responsive and informative as you. I know I really appreciate what you are doing and I am sure many other Navy Vets appreciate it too. So Mary and the rest of the Foss group, Please keep up the great work and Thank you so very much, Bravo Zulu
Thank you, for your kind words. We are honored to be able to a part of this historic voyage.
Warm regards,
Mary
Good Afternoon: I have 3 questions. What is the fuel capacity of the Corbin Foss, is she props driven via a deisel/electric set up and how many other tugs are helping her control the USS Contellation. Thank you
Fuel capacity of the Corbin Foss is 224,000 gallons
She is prop driven by two Alcoa engines
No there are not any other tugs helping her control the USS Constellation. There will be another tug escorting her from Peru down.
Not a boat person is your number correct 224,000 gal of fuel on the Corbin Foss? Hard to grasp 70 Gal of fuel (approximate) per mile from
California to Panama. Nothing but total respect for the Capt and crews of the Corbin Foss. A trip of a life time.
Yes, the specs for the Corbin Foss show that the she can carry 224,000 gallons of fuel. Vessel will burn approximately 4,500 gallons per day dependent on weather, speed, current, etc.
Having already watched the USS Forrestal (my ship)make its final journey, I can understand the people following the Connie, and their feelings about its fate.
